On the press-conference anticipating the beginning of FIG Artistic World Cup Series «World Stars-2009» in Moscow, being held in sportcomplex Olympijsky on May 25, were attended Head coach of Russian team Mr.Andrey Rodionenko, General Director of Sport department of Moscow Mr. Alexandre Polinsky, Head judge of the competitions Mr.Victor Melnikov and two-times Olympic Champion Svetlana Khorkina.
First took the word Mr Andrey Rodionenko. He announced the name list of Russian team. Men gymnasts will be presented on the podium as follows: Anton Golotsutskov (who won a bronze medal on the Olympic Game in Beiging), Konstantin Plujnikov (one of the best gymnasts on the rings in Europe), Andrey Perevoznikov (with his unordinary combinations on pommel horse), Anatol Vasiliev. Besides Mr. Rodionenko and chief coach of mens? team Evgeny Nikolko decided to give a chance on the Olympijsky podium to young gymnast that became winners in junior competitions: Emin Garibov (Moscow) and Alexandre Balandin (Petrozavodsk).
Women Russian team will be presented by young, but already famous Julia Berger, Anna Mizdrikova, Ekaterina Kurbatova and Kristina Gorunova. They showed good results on Europe Championships in Milan this year and previous FIG World Cup Series.
Head judge of competitions Mr Victor Melnikov pointed out that the composition of arriving to the capital of Russia foreign teams is very strong. We will see in Moscow Flavius Kochi from Romania, Mitia Petkovsek and Aliach Pegan from Slovenia and Olympic champion on rings Alexandre Vorobiov from Ukraine.
Alexandre Polinsky mentioned that organization of such competition was not difficult as it was not the first year of organizing such action, but this year they had some worries about making ready the competition hall after «Eurovision» (which were carried out in the same sport complex and were finalized one before our competitions). Despite of it the problem was solved successfully.
Svetlana Khorkina wished good luck to all the participant of the competitions.
