With 15.755 points he finished ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games bronze medalists Louis Smith (GBR) and 2009 European Champion Krisztian Berki (HUN, both scored 15.650). Russia’s Andrei Perevoznikov was no match for top three in the difficulty and is currently fourth with 15.100. 2008 Olympic Games silver medalist Philipp Ude struggled with difficulty only receiving 5.60 points for his combination and in the end it was the high execution score that allowed one of the favourites to qualify for the Finals, rounding up the top eight list with 14.725 points.
The defending champion Konstantin Pluzhnikov is currently first on Rings (15.500) ahead of Prashanth Sellathurai (15.325) and recognized world leader on the apparatus Yuri van Gelder (15.225).
In women competition a young Russian team continues to strengthen its position on the international scene.
