Press-release №5

The young Russian team succeeded at winning medals in three out of four Women events at World Cup competition in Mosocw.

On Vault event Ekaterina Kurbatova and Yulia Berger were unmatched both in the difficulty of the attempted jumps and the quality of their execution. Their marks speak for themselves: 14.587 (Kurbatova) and 14.412 (Berger). The 2009 European Championships bronze medalist Anna Kalashnyk (UKR) was on par with them in her first attempt (14.350), but relatively easy second jump put her in the distant third place with 13.925 points.

Ekaterina Kurbatova, alongside with her teammate Kristina Goryunova, was also the class of the field on Uneven Bars. Both girls demonstrated the most difficult combinations (base value 5.8 and 5.9, respectively) and received the same number of points (14.325) to split the first place between them. Lucia Tacchelli (SUI) won bronze with 14.050 points.

On Floor Anna Myzdrikova performed by far the hardest combination (base value of 5.90), however her performance was slightly less convincing than in qualifying round. She scored 14.125 points to win the event over Adela Shajn (SLO, 14.075) and Ethiene Franco (BRA, 13.750).

The only event where Russian women failed to make a podium was a Balance Beam. Kristina Goryunova and Ekaterina Kurbatova finished fourth (13.375) and fifth (12.900) as the high difficulty they were attempting once again proved to be too much for them. It was nonetheless, a great learning experience for both, as they only started to compete at World Cup events this year. Meanwhile Sanne Wevers defended her qualification victory by winning the competition with 14.175 points ahead of Adela Shajn (SLO, 14.050) and Ethiene Franco (BRA, 13.950).
